Melbourne Country

Original Snakeskin's

L to R : Alan Rose, Andrew Langton-Joy, Anne Unger, Roger Engledow, Steve Hyde

The Original Snakeskin's are a five piece band from Melbourne that blend roots based country music with heartfelt vocals and toe tapping rhythms. Singer Anne Unger's husky timbre fires up and delivers with considerable clout. Aided by a soulful blend of traditional instrumentation- guitar, mandolin, banjo, harmonica and double bass - soaring harmonies.
The original Snakeskin's compose and perform in the spirit that made Country a definitive musical style.

Quote:
"In a genre choking on chappies and chappettes besotted by style ahead of substance and an obsession with crossing over to pop or running back to rock, there are a few simple pleasures.
One of them is the Original Snakeskin's"
Dave Dawson, Beat Magazine.

Gold Coast Bluegrass

In late 2001 Tracey Davis started a band called Bushfire. Featuring Rob Davis, Dave Luxmoore and Phil Eizenberg, their backgrounds brought range of musical interests giving rise to bands ability to draw from Bluegrass, Irish, Country, Folk and Bush music to colour their style. Their instrumentation includes banjo and accordion, mandolin, fiddle and guitar, dobro, whistles and percussion along with close vocal harmonies.

Tracey Davis was born in Longreach and grew up on the land. She spent a great deal of time performing with her family's band playing bass guitar at dances across central Queensland. Tracey pursued a musical career, winning awards at festivals and playing in a variety of bands until 2001 when she founded the Bushfire Band.

The band has appeared at festivals across the country including Tamworth, Redlands Bluegrass Convention, Harrietville Bluegrass & Traditional Country Music Festival, Beaudesert Country & Horse Festival and Imbil Acoustic Music Festival. The have also played a host of bush dances, private and corporate functions, pubs and clubs over the last 6 years.

Bushfire have produced three CD albums to date. Their first album 'Kindling' included a range of traditional bluegrass along with four original songs. Their second album 'Bluegrass Live' is a blend of traditional and contemporary bluegrass music. It was recorded utilising a single microphone to capture vocals and instruments in a single recording take a method that was used in the early 50's and is making a resurgence among bluegrass bands today.

Bushfire Band have just release their latest CD showcasing their musical variety and more of Tracey's songwriting abilities. Tracks from the new CD have been promoted and played on Australian radio as well as some radio stations overseas. A video of the title track 'It's Hot' is currently being planned.
