AUSGRASS 2008

Tribute to the " GRAND OLE OPRY SHOW"

The Montreal Community Theatre is one of the few surviving 1920's picture theatres built in the style of famous theatre architects Kaberry and Chard. Modernistic with art deco elements. This stunning theatre was resurrected in 1995 by the local community and today is operated by volunteers.

This theatre is very much in the style of theatre that the pioneers of Bluegrass music would have found in the bigger towns and in some ways is a smaller version of the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, hence the name for the Saturday night concert. With the extended stage and the second floor opera box seating, this venue promises to be the most exciting venue Ausgrass has used in our fourteen year history.

It is intended to put on another AUSGRASS Saturday night Concert to an appreciative TUMUT audience, with three bands, giving the audience an introduction to Mountain, Old Timey String Band and Bluegrass Music.

To coin the words of the announcer on the Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, Martha White Flour television show.

"GOODNESS GRACIOUS, IT'S GOOD"
